Los Alamos Public Library

The Los Alamos Public Library is the heart of our inclusive and growing community where people and ideas connect in engaging and safe spaces. We consist of two libraries: Mesa Public Library, 2400 Central Ave, in Los Alamos and White Rock Branch Library, 10 Sherwood Blvd, in White Rock.

Our Mission is to enrich our unique community with excellent customer service, knowledgeable staff, dedicated partnerships, welcoming spaces, and diverse resources.  Toward that goal, both libraries offer circulation services; reference help; computer and printing/scanning resources; both active and passive programming for children, teens, and adults; meeting rooms; Library of Things; and so much more!

Here's a sampling:

Discover!  A new program launching this month for curious minds.  On the fourth Thursday of each month, February through October 2026, 6-7:30 p.m., the White Rock branch will host a series of hands-on topics at entry level.  February 26 is Discover!  Smartphone Photography 101.  Registration required.  https://laconm.libcal.com/event/16349669

Music & Movement: Library staff share songs and props in this high-energy program designed for ages 0-6 and their caregivers. M&M promotes brain and body development with an emphasis on language acquisition and literacy readiness. At the main library, M&M is offered three times a week: Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday at 9:30am, prior to the library opening at 10am.

Family Storytime:  Library storytime is a time-honored tradition in public libraries. Storytime is offered at both the main and the branch library weekly. Books and activities are typically most appropriate for kids ages 3-6 years. Library staff are trained to adjust and flex in the moment providing a positive environment for most children and their involved caregivers. Storytime happens twice weekly at the main library on Thursdays at 10:30am and Saturdays at 10:15am, and once weekly at the White Rock branch on Wednesdays at 10:15am.
