Dining Hosts help create a pleasant and supportive lunchtime experience for older adults and individuals with mild physical or cognitive challenges in the Adult Day Out Program at the Betty Ehart Senior Activity Center in Los Alamos. Volunteers arrive before lunch to set up the dining area, dress the tables, and assist participants with carrying their meals as needed. During lunch, they serve food and beverages while engaging in friendly conversation. After the meal, Dining Hosts help with cleanup by clearing tables and tidying the dining space. All volunteers receive training—no prior experience is required. Stay-at-home parents or grandparents are welcome to bring children along. Dining Hosts enjoy a complimentary lunch in appreciation of their service.
