Opportunities From: Volunteer Los Alamos

Our Volunteer Driver Program plays a vital role in supporting seniors who need transportation outside of Los Alamos for medical appointments.

This service provides many meaningful benefits to our members, including:

Safe and comfortable rides to medical appointments

Companionship and conversation with a caring driver

Personalized service tailored to the rider’s needs

Peace of mind, knowing the driver and vehicle remain with the rider throughout the trip

Volunteer bakers are needed to help bring comfort and joy to our older adults. Many seniors visit our centers to enjoy coffee and companionship—and a homemade treat makes those moments even more special.

We’re inviting caring community members to bake and donate cookies, cakes, brownies, or sweet breads for our seniors to enjoy with their coffee.

Donations can be dropped off at the Betty Ehart Senior Activity Center anytime between 8:30am and 4:00pm, Monday through Friday. Your kindness will help make someone’s day a little sweeter!

Dining Hosts help create a pleasant and supportive lunchtime experience for older adults and individuals with mild physical or cognitive challenges in the Adult Day Out Program at the Betty Ehart Senior Activity Center in Los Alamos.

Volunteers arrive before lunch to set up the dining area, dress the tables, and assist participants with carrying their meals as needed. During lunch, they serve food and beverages while engaging in friendly conversation. After the meal, Dining Hosts help with cleanup by clearing tables and tidying the dining space.

All volunteers receive training—no prior experience is required. Stay-at-home parents or grandparents are welcome to bring children along. Dining Hosts enjoy a complimentary lunch in appreciation of their service.

We’re currently looking for kind and welcoming Lunch Greeters to volunteer one day a week, Monday–Friday from 11:30am–1:00pm at the Betty Ehart Senior Activity Center.

Lunch Greeters help create a positive first impression by greeting guests with a warm smile and friendly hello, while signing in those joining us for lunch. Volunteers also pick up the lunch list, money box, and change from administration and return them once lunch is over.

No experience is necessary—training will be provided. If you enjoy connecting with others and brightening someone’s day, this is the perfect role for you! As a thank-you, Lunch Greeters receive a complimentary lunch during their shift.

Dining Hosts at the White Rock Senior Center kitchen play a vital role in creating a clean, welcoming, and well-organized dining experience for our senior guests.

Volunteers assist with pre-lunch setup, including wiping tables and preparing beverage, coffee, and salad bar stations. During lunch, they greet and assist guests, monitor supplies, and help ensure meal service runs smoothly. After lunch, Dining Hosts help clear trays, dispose of waste, and clean tables, chairs, and serving areas. Some may also assist with dishwashing or other light kitchen tasks.

All cleaning supplies and tools are provided. No experience is necessary—training will be provided. Volunteers are encouraged to bring a friendly, respectful attitude and a willingness to support others.
